remember when spring heeled jack usa was the best band ever? why oh why did i ever stop listening to them and lose (for a second time) the amazing hoodie with "SPRING HEELED JACK" written on the front?

these are the questions i must ask myself at this point in life.

i fucking miss pop punk. all i'm ever around anymore is fucking 'core' music. that being....hardcore, metalcore, grindcore, um...scenesters dancing funny... but whatever. it's not that i don't enjoy it most of the time, i just want to sing along. hah. seriously. i miss that music where the words and the music are actually audible and distingushable from one another. music that's not about thrashing and beating people's face in.

--here's alie regressing into middle school--

i dunno. maybe i've been wearing my vans too much lately. maybe i should've joined that ska band at oberlin. arrrar i just want to go to a pop punk ska concert again. one more time. maybe i just need my little fix. but actually...what am i talking about. i should be proud of this. so fuck basically everything. this is the music that started me on music, and it's wont not leaving my system. i just wish i could find the remote control to my stereo. actually it's okay now.

so for all you kids out there who were with me when we knew all the words to 'songs of suburbia', rock on. actually, it's probably just brooke, so REMEMBER girl.

damn, there are so many things we did with this as our soundtrack. eighth grade. we danced and laughed and smiled and drank scotch in chloe's barn on her 13th birthday. we drowned out ms. roberts in our awful, holistic ISW class called 'the journey' by putting the record on during our painting time. we 'jammed' on an out of tune guitar and won 'most technical difficulties' in the class talent show. i wore a plaid jacket that's now lost forever. we rebeled, we related, we internalized, we summarized. we watched them open for even bigger idols at the 9:30club, and then watch them break up a year later. but we got over it. and now we live hundreds of miles apart and see each other twice a year.

but oh jolene, we know. you'll never let us go.

i hope.
