yeah there was a time...i didn't like the love i liked the climbers

ok, no. there was a time when i was present. by that i mean in writing in a box on the internets. not that i'm saying this is gonna be a constant thing, just maybe it grounded me a little more than i have been. because i want to be writing in a paper jounal every day, and it just doesn't work out like that. i have limited time to myself all the time, and now i'm sucked back in. i like it though.

so here we are...spring break was this week. ohh boy. someone thought it was a great idea to go BACK to myrtle beach for another week and play softball/ not play softball. we played lots of games, our team is tight, we won, found an indian restaurant, rode a rollercoaster, and did you know that traffic backs up for about seven miles at night becuase it's CRUISING TIME down 'the strip'. let me try to describe this phenomenon...'the strip' is basically a two lane street (one lane going in and one going out) lined ONLY with cheap motels and beachware shops. like WINGS. i think there's some sort of hot dog stand thrown in there too. just to mix it up. anyway, so BOYS dress up in no shirt and lots of ugly tattoos, string mardi gras beads from their rear view mirrors, blast 'rap' music so loud as to only isolate the bass, and yell at women. it's also important, i've noticed, to hold a confederate flag while doing this. for good luck, i guess.

this little parade goes on for about seven miles, and then the cars/trucks/motorcyles turn around and go the other way. it's very important. the parade holds up traffic every night from 6pm until 2am (maybe..i dunno, we went to bed at aboutt 1030 every night). we tried to make our coach joke (pronounced yoh-kah) pump up the jams so we could open the side doors of our rented minivan and join in the fun..but she was reluctant. i think just because we didn't have enough mardi gras beads to hand out.

but all in all it was good. the weather was mad humid (which my hair LOVES), but 70+ degrees. we got to wear our cute little tank top/ shorts uniforms... to show off our guns. but now i'm back in oberlin, and it's blizzarding. i kid you not. luckily the gusting wind has died down (i took cover in a fort i made in my room), but it's still fucking snowing! we're supposed to have games all week, but not if we have to like, dig trenches in our field. rg. this is how it goes.

the rest of the semester is shaping up to be interesting. just busy. a couple long research papers (one should be really awesome...food politics...racism...american meat/food industry...i'm coming!) and an exam. not too bad, but if we have softball games like EVERY day, it get's harder.
that's what she said.

i'll be back.
