i finally got out. it's been a long week of lying inside. i think this whole 'college thing' is becoming more real, and tonight really showed me that. i nearly begged my parents to let me go to roberts 'bar-b-que'; they were unsure that i was fit to leave the house. but i had a really really nice time. all the good people were there. and by good i mean...the maret kids...in thatgroup. my mom said we'd only stay for a little while, but we ended up there for 4 hours.

at one point we all sat in a circle and played a game: "say your name, the college you're going to, the date you are leaving, and an animal that starts with the first letter of your college name" - because we're funny. i'll try and remember them all because i know you are interested. it went:

i basically wanted to do that to show off where my friends are going to college, because it makes me look smart. and stuff.

i smiled a lot. we took some group pictures, ate our weight in pasta salad, and reminisced about old math teachers. i only cried once. when chloe was leaving. we went into the living room, and she hugged me. then her chin started doing the 'chin thing' where it quivers and you know you're going to cry...and so we did. so i just hugged her really tighly, and then we stole the spoon of doom together. (the spoon of doom is definetly a story for a different evening.) everyone else walked into the room and started singing moulin rouge songs, and the moment was over. it really was emotional for a moment there.

i have to go soon because my salivary glands are starting to ache (which = time for more medicine), but there is one more thing i must remember about tonight. nellie and i were sitting next to each other on the couch, she turns to me and says, "if we made out right now, i have an immunity to mono so it would be okay."

so i lauged, gave her a high five, and told her i'd meet up with her later.
