it just feels so fucking good.

4 years, two banners, two second place tournament titles, and one tournament championship.

i walk up to the plate, step out of the box, and watch mr. emerson give me the signals. two fingers to the right wrist..then the right shoulder..then the left shoulder. two fists together. nothing. i take my two practice swings. he says, "one last time alie..one more time." i stood for a second and thought about that. i kept my one foot in the box and held my bat up in front of my head. you know..in the 'staring at nothing' kindof way. i took two deep breaths and tried not to tear up. but i couldn't let that go. the last time. one last time. i got up and i grounded out. it shook me. it really really shook me. the end. it's the end. i remember every single championship game on madiera's field. vistation, (nothing), potomac, and this year ncs. this is what we worked for. it goes out to kate, and ashley, and emily, and julia, and stef, and mara, and liz...for being leaders for the past 4 years. who weren't lucky enough to win their last games at maret. i can't even believe how much i love this sport. the way it feels to dig your cleats into the dirt and just know you can get to anything. the way the bat feels when you really got all of the ball. hearing ms. hall say "get home" when you are rounding first- because you just hit a BOMB. that perfect softball weather. coming back in the bottom of the 7th inning to win. being a team. being the tightest, happiest team in the whole school, because thats just the way it works. i could write pages and pages about what maret softball has done for me...but i don't think that could even do it justice. i am amazed.
