i swear i almost turned left and i almost walked up your grey steps and i almost fell in your arms. i wanted that mysterious greeting and the warm knowledge that there would always be a bed on its side and a hand to hold me. there was just a warm place in my thoughts for you, your tricky self. you hid and i thought you were hiding from everyone but me. (i swear we were kids together). as i swerved down that winding street yet again, i thought i had never seen the lines move that fast. my god, how many times did we ride there? and i know, for one moment, i thought that that would be ok. and now, parts of me wish i were a bad person. then things would be right so easily. it's impossible to explain what goes into this... but someday, you and i...we will be once again.

i really should not drive down piney branch road any more.
